The project is managed in accordance with the highest environmental standards. Plant and equipment are procured to be either electric or be powered by low-carbon fuels, such as HVO+. This will greatly reduce our onsite carbon emissions and contribute to improve the local air quality.
As part of the project’s BREEAM aspirations, all relevant materials must be procured following a responsible sourcing certification. At this stage, 99% of key building materials possess valid sustainable procurement credentials and 100% of the timber used onsite has Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.
Construction waste leaving site is sent to recycling facilities for processing. We also ensure that the waste hierarchy principles are followed and try to avoid generating the waste in the first place. Over 99% of our waste has been diverted from landfill.
We measure our Social Value (Social Return on Investment (SROI)) using an online Social Value Calculator. To date £6.573,176 worth of social value has been created through:
22 local jobs being created
33 local work experience student placements
282 students have engaged in curriculum support events in local schools and colleges.
£16,326 raised for charity
SROI is made up of fiscal savings to the government and taxpayers, economic benefits to HMRC, wellbeing improvements and environmental benefits.
